Majority of road accidents in Ghana happen on good roads- NRS

Former National Road Safety Director in the Ashanti Region and the Western region, Mr. Thomas Bismark Boakye has stated that, majority of road accidents in the country happened on good roads not on bad roads.

According to him, drivers drive at a top speed on good roads without thinking of the implications that might happen.

He added that, a driver might have a failed brake or the road maybe very slippery which causes a lot of accidents on the road.

He noted that, some drivers do not use the rules and laws when driving on the road.

He made this comment after 19 people died following a gory accident at Buipe in the Central Gonja District.

The accident occurred when two buses with registration numbers GT 3345 – 16 and AC 1699 – 20 with 45 aboard each, collided with each other.

Mr. Boakye revealed that, some of the drivers doesn,t know anything about the road especially where to drive speed or where to slow down hence the increment of accidents on the road.
