Deputy General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Obiri Boahen has stated that, he can’t predict victory for the NPP ahead of 2024 general elections.
According to him, he was very surprise looking at the NDC’s performance during the 2020 general elections.
“I was shaken by the performance of John Dramani Mahama and the NDC and that makes me very worried”,he said in an interview with Kumasi base Kesseben fm monitored by Africannewsgh.com.
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has predicted victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 presidential elections.
“The next parliamentary and presidential elections are due in 2024. Under the constitutionally mandated term limits, Mr Akufo-Addo cannot run for a third term. Mr Mahama is reportedly considering whether to run again, but we expect the NDC to seek to revitalise its prospects with a fresh candidate. After two terms of NPP government, we expect the NDC to win the 2024 presidential election and to gain a small majority in parliament,” the EIU said in a recent report.
Mr. Obiri Boahen added that, the NDC will present John Mahama as their flagbearer for 2024 general election which will make it difficult for the NPP.
“Let’s all wait and see what will happen in 2024 because right now l can’t predict victory for NPP”, he revealed.
