Local and International Human Right Lawyer, Kwame Okyere has called on the government, the Justice System and the entire Judiciary to as a matter of urgency expunge death sentence from our verdict pronouncement.
He said the death sentence infringes on people’s rights hence the need to abolish it.
According to the proper human right advocate Lawyer, judgement might go wrong and that will lead to the abuse of human right on the part of the suspect.
Lawyer Kwame Okyere elaborated that it is about high time Ghanaians support his unrelenting calls to eliminate the death sentence completely from our system.
Amnesty International has is unhappy after a High Court Judge sentenced the two main suspects in the Takoradi Girls kidnap case to death.
According to the Programs Coordinator of Amnesty International, Mr. Abotsey, the judgment sounds abuse and disturbing to human right.
He’s therefore on behalf of the Association calling for a second look into the pronouncement.
Commenting on this on Omanbapa Morning Show on Silver FM, Lawyer Okyere added up to their call and called for a thorough discussion over the death sentence to see the need for it to be expunged.
